With abortion rights and access on the line like never before, our leaders in the U.S. Senate must pass the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), a bill that would protect right to abortion throughout the United States.
The Women’s Health Protection Act would create a right for healthcare providers to provide abortion care and a corresponding right for people to receive that care, free from bans and medically unnecessary restrictions that single out abortion and block access.
Passing the WHPA is a critical step toward creating a world where everybody—whoever they are or wherever they're from—is free to make the best decisions for themselves, their families, and their lives.

Why is this important? What’s going on these days?
December's SCOTUS ruling allows Texas’ cruel, vigilante-enforced ban on abortion, SB 8, to remain in place. This blatantly unconstitutional ban should never have been allowed to go into effect in the first place. For over three months, this draconian bounty hunting scheme has made access to abortion care nearly impossible in the state of Texas—doing untold harm to millions of Texans and effectively rendering Roe v. Wade meaningless in the state.
The Supreme Court’s failure to block this cruel law underscores the grave threats that abortion rights and access face. As we await a decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a separate case that directly challenges Roe v. Wade, it’s clear that the legal right to abortion is in urgent jeopardy.
The people hurt most by abortion restrictions are those who already face barriers to accessing the care they need—including women; Black, Indigenous and People of Color; those working to make ends meet; members of the LGBTQ+ community; immigrants; young people; those living in rural communities; and people with disabilities.
